Xiaomi Unveils CyberOne Robot That Looks A Lot Like Tesla Bot, But Walks Funny

Xiaomi, at a recent event, unveiled its new smart, humanoid robot that awfully resembles Elon Musk’s Tesla Bot that he showcased to the world this time last year.

Developed by Xiaomi’s Robotics Lab (which also unveiled a Boston-Dynamics Spot look-alike sometime back), the robot has been named ‘CyberOne’ and it's 5.8 feet tall while weighing a good 52 kilograms -- almost as much as an actual adult human.

The face of the robot is essentially a curved OLED panel and has two cameras that allow it to see the world in 3D. A pair of microphones also allows CyberOne to identify 85 kinds of environmental sounds and 45 classifications of human emotions.

The robot possesses 21 degrees of freedom, with 13 joints in total, and each degree of freedom is capable of responding as quickly as 0.5 milliseconds

The actuators in the upper limbs sport an output torque of up to 30 newton-meters while possessing the precision to operate at just one newton-meter. The lower limbs are powered by actuators that are capable of peaking at up to 300-newton-meters.

The robot has been nicknamed the ‘Metal Bro’ and even has a Zodiac sign -- Leo.

CyberOne showcased its movement prowess by offering a flower to Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun. Soon after he also showcased that he’s learning kung fu, while crouching into a battle stance of sorts.

As of now, CyberOne isn't available to the masses and can be ordered for a premium price range of 600,000 to 700,000 yuan, which is around Rs 70 lakhs to Rs 80 lakhs. The company is also adding more capabilities to the robot in the near future.

While the robot might not be available to everyone just yet, it’s still loads better than what Musk pulled at the event with a human dancing wearing the robot’s costume.
