Chinese startup exports battery-swap e-LCVs to Middle East

Newrizon, a Chinese automotive startup, has begun exporting e-LCVs to the Middle East. The iC1 (pictured) is battery swap-enabled, minimizing downtime for recharging. Newrizon’s move into the Middle East is the first step in its globalization strategy. 

Founded in 2020 by a former Nio top executive and funded by Nio Capital, Newrizon launched two e-LCVs in 2021: the iC1, an electric light-duty truck; and the EC1, a 4.5-ton pure-electric truck. 

The iC1 is Newrizon’s first in-house developed e-LCV that supports recharging via battery swap. It can do a swap in no more than five minutes, and can fast-charge from 0 to 80% in 40 minutes. The model comes with advanced connectivity features, including FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) upgrades, intelligent vehicle management, and keyless entry. 

From the Middle East, Newrizon will expand into other global markets, establishing complete sales and operations systems in various regions around the world.
